Where to donate your books for tax credit
Local libraries
Most local and regional libraries, either public or private (institutional) will accept donations of books, either for their own collection or to sell at their annual or period used book sales. Some libraries also have a seperate "books for sale" room attached, and offer used books throughout the year. If you're in doubt as to whether the books you plan to donate are worth enough to warrant an appraisal for tax purposes, feel free to contact us via email or phone. If you send or email a list of the books, we can tell you if they are worth the cost of an appraisal and give a rough estimate of their value, and also of the appraisal fee. There is no charge for this service.

Local charitable organizations
Many local charitable organizations have an area in their thrift shops devoted to the sale of used books. They will almost always be happy to accept donations of used books. In many cases, if you have a written appraisal, you can take advantage of a tax reduction on your donation. If in doubt, let us take a look at the list of your books, and we can tell you if the cost of a donation is warranted.
