Note on charitable contributions of books made in 2012

    If you have made a donation to a charitable or non profit organization in 2011 it's not too late to have the collection appraised.  You're entitled to a tax credit. If the total value of the collection is $5,000 or more, you will need an independent appraisal. Contact me for further information.  You can file an extension or an amended return.    Check with your CPA regarding this.  

   Furthermore, it is possible at this point that tax regulations may change.  I'm writing on December 27, 2012 and the situation is currently being debated in Congress, although whatever changes might be enacted should not effect your 2012 return.
